The Cub Scouts have been a part of
Johnstown for over 50 years, and the
pinewood derby has been a part of
Scouting for 75 years. Each year the Cub
Scout gets a pine block of wood, 4
wheels and 4 nails. The Scout takes the
block of wood, shapes it into a car with
an adult’s help, and then races it
against other scouts in the Pack.
The Cub Scouts of Johnstown have been
using the same pinewood derby race track
for over 25 years. We are starting a
campaign to replace our old 3 lane wood
track with a new 4 lane metal track and
timer. We are asking your help in
reaching our goal of $1300. We are
asking any business in and around
Johnstown to contribute, as well as
individuals and families. We are asking
for ANY size donation. We want everyone
in and around our community to have an
equal opportunity be a part of Cub
Scouting in Johnstown. We would like to
purchase the track in November of 2006
so it will be ready to go in January of
2007. Any donation, whatever the size,
will be put into the pinewood derby
track fund until our goal is met.
During the Cub Scout Pinewood derby in
January we will be posting all of the
businesses and family sponsors on a
banner. All donations are tax
deductible.
Checks can be made out to Pack 20
. You may mail your donation to
our Treasurer, Kevin Miller, or you may
contact Russell Sparks for pick-up of
your donation at your convenience.
